Given current market developments and the continued growth of domestic intermodal logistics across the United States and Canada, Unit 53 continues to invest in and expand its 53’ container fleet.
The North American intermodal market continues to show strong momentum in 2026. U.S. intermodal volumes have reached record levels this year, while domestic 48’ and 53’ container volumes have shown particularly strong growth. This development is being supported by a tightening long-haul trucking market, increasing transportation costs and the continued expansion of rail intermodal services and networks across North America.
We believe these developments further strengthen the role of the 53’ domestic container as a critical piece of equipment in the North American supply chain and support continued demand for modern container capacity.
Against this background, we are pleased to announce that Unit 53 has placed new orders for 53’ containers.
With new build production capacity currently limited and international shipping, importation and delivery requiring careful advance planning, we believe it is important to secure future fleet capacity well ahead of anticipated demand.
As a leading supplier of 53’ containers in North America, we are therefore pleased to invite our customers to place their pre-orders with Unit 53 now; both for 53’ dry containers and 53’ reefer containers.
Pre-ordering provides the opportunity to:
- Secure new build 53’ container capacity for 2027 ahead of future requirements;
- Reserve production capacity while slots remain available;
- Include planned fleet expansion or replacement in your 2027 budget cycle with greater certainty;
- Align container availability with your 2027 fleet capacity planning and anticipated volume growth;
- Plan delivery locations and timing well in advance; and
- Discuss both purchase and long-term lease options with Unit 53.
For customers currently preparing their 2027 budgets and fleet plans, we believe this is the right moment to discuss expected container requirements. Early commitments allow us to incorporate your requirements into our production, shipping and delivery planning and provide greater certainty around equipment availability for next year.
We are currently allocating our upcoming production volumes and would be happy to discuss your expected requirements, preferred delivery locations and timing.
Please contact us to discuss your 2027 fleet requirements and reserve containers from our upcoming production.
